Must-Have Gemstones
At my childhood home, our neighbors had some soft stones in their planters and I would always want to put a couple in my pocket. Unfortunately, my mom would always yell at me to put them back. My addiction to rocks still stands seeing as I’ve been accumulating a gem and rock collection. I often carry them in my pockets or find them floating around my bed. I believe that these stones transmit energy, so they’ve become an essential part of my life. Here are just a few that I couldn’t live without.
Selenite
Selenite is a clearing stone, it has the power to clear other stones and energies. This lamp is one of many selenite pieces I own. As someone who works in the wellness space, I feel it’s important to protect myself from any unwanted energies lingering from my work. In general, it’s a stone that brings peace and lightness but can be utilized to amplify or dissipate intentions and energies. The only con of this stone is that it breaks easily, when the stone breaks its energy can be displaced making it less effective.
Aventurine
Aventurine is a good stone for anyone looking to attract new beginnings, opportunities, and abundance. Its green hue can be associated with material goods such as money but also anything associated with matters of the heart. This stone is thought to settle anxiety which is one of the reasons I initially purchased it.
Sodalite
Sodalite brings truth and clarity. As a blue stone, it’s associated with the area of the throat. This stone can strengthen communication and the emotional and physical voice. Much of my work as an actor involves speaking and cultivating my artistic voice. Aside from these rocks, I find it helpful to wear necklaces with blue stones whenever I feel I need an extra boost to make myself heard or see people’s true intentions.
Desert Jasper
I started working with this stone when I was going through a difficult bout of anxiety-induced IBS which made it difficult for me to leave the house. Healers have been known to use this stone for stomach, gallbladder, and intestine issues. Generally, it’s a stone that has grounding properties that can help inspire creativity and passion for life and deepen your connection to the natural and metaphysical world.
Obsidian
I think of Obsidian as the guard dog of all rocks. If a pit bull, German shepherd, or rottweiler were a stone they’d be obsidian. This is a great stone to place in the entryway to your home or space as it protects you from any negative vibrations. This rock is made from cooled magma from VOLCANOES. Honestly, if you look into purchasing any rock on this list Obsidian should be your number 1.
Blue Apatite
Blue Apatite can help you fortify your intuition. It’s also a powerful rock for manifestation because it can help you connect with your higher self. If you’re interested in lucid dreaming you can pop some mugwort and Blue Apatite underneath your pillow. I like to speak an intention to my Blue Apatite and put it out during the full moon to get charged to help me with my intuitive gifts.
So, if you ever feel a gemstone is calling you to pick it up I encourage you to take the jump and buy it. In the meantime, I’m open to any recommendations from my gemstone lovers, what stone should I acquire next?
